About Tom
Irish artist, Tom O'Rourke was born in Sligo Ireland. He moved to England in 1962 and studied Art and Design at the Hornsey and Maidstone Collages of Art. Between 1966 and 1994, he taught art on a part-time basis in London.
Tom has been able to pursue his work on a full time basis since he left art teaching and returned to Ireland in 1997. In the same year, he was accepted to exhibit at the RHA annual open selection show and received an award from the Arts Council of Ireland. He later developed a body of work inspired by a love of Irish traditional music and the natural environment of the West of Ireland.
