The forces of nature inspired ancient civilizations to create the myths of the titans. Here sky, sea and rocks defend their space like powerful beasts. In the background you can see a small factory symbolizing the fragility of human creation which may seem to dominate and destroy nature but in fact will be overcome. Born in 1960, I grew up in New York City and living between Geneva
and London.
I studied at the Decorative Art school of Geneva.
I’m a graphic designer, painter, sketcher, cartoonist, musician and taiji teacher.
I held exhibitions in New York, Brussels, Brazil, UK, France and Switzerland. My
paintings are currently sold around the world through the Saatchi art online platform.
My work is about the introspection of human relationships, or rather non-relationships,
mainly depicting superficiality and solitude. It is expressed by opposing
organic vs non-organic, light vs darkness, using archetypes, Greek mythology,
biblical stories and working in chiaroscuro atmospheres where light rips its way
through darkness thus symbolising optimism. I use a restricted colour palette and
strong contrasts for a more austere, dramatic effect.
For me, art is a complex relation between the artist’s expression and what he is,
what he thinks he is or what he wants to be.
I have a sort of split personality that transpires in my work, balancing between very
austere paintings to expressionist drawings.
Currently I’m working on animated paintings and creating a book of sketches on
historical London.
