Teresa Kent

I am self-educated. Like most artists, I was born with the talent and desire to put down what I saw, felt and what inspired me. Unlike most young artist’s today, I didn’t have access to Pell grants, student loans, etc. So, I read and drew, painted and dreamed. I’ve taken classes and squeezed as much information from my instructors as possible. While raising my children and working, I, intermittently, would work at my art at a furious pace, only to have to put in on the back burner while more mundane issues of life would take precedence.
In 1999, I was diagnosed with lupus and had to stop working. It has been a bitter struggle with both emotional and physical issues since then. But I soon realized that now I had all the time in the world to devote to my art and I began to study.
I’ve just finished eight months of study with Bet Borgeson in the study of colored pencil and many other art theories and decided that I am ready to seriously begin to pursue a public venue. Although I shall study the theories and history of art for the rest of my life, I feel that I am ready to show my dreams and inspirations to the public. I hope my art gives a moment of happiness or thought to those whom I hope to draw into my little worlds of pictures.
