I was born and live in Riga (the capital of Latvia, a country located by the Baltic Sea). I received my professional education in Russia (Teachers' Training Art School, Voronezh region), additionally graduated from Drawing courses of the Latvian Academy of Arts and Art history courses of the Latvian Academy of Arts. Currently, I continue to paint and run an art studio where people of different ages are engaged.
The world is filled with interactions, and I attempt to reflect these interactions in my works. I would define the underlying principle of my painting as complementarities.
I distinctly pursue two complementary styles. The first one is surrealism where a certain influence of Salvador Dali is apparent. However, unlike Dali, my paintings depicture both classical and surrealistic images.
Images of women, shells or geometric figures painted in the purely classical fashion co-exist with surrealistic or occasionally with abstractionist lines, spots and complex colour compositions. Unlike the modern artistic trend, the different elements of the world, present in my paintings, are not opposed to nature.
One of the main genres of my painting is still life where I also maintain the principle of complementarities. Completely unexpected images of old and modern things complement each other and reflect the real world where interactions between movable and immovable, ancient and contemporary, materialistic and idealistic are essential.
