Svitlana Karunska is a contemporary Ukrainian sculptor. In her artistic practice, Karunska's chosen themes have evolved over time, embracing a multitude of variations, capturing new shades of moods, and embodying fresh movements. The principle that guides her artistic plasticity is rooted in working from within, starting from the center and extending towards the periphery. She consistently explores and studies materials that may seem unconventional in the context of traditional sculpture, such as paper, cardboard, colored smalt, and paint. This research and experimentation with diverse materials add a distinct character to her artworks, pushing the boundaries of sculptural expression.
Svitlana Karunska completed her studies at the State Art School named after Shevchenko in Kyiv and the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture, specializing in sculpture. During her time at the academy, she had the opportunity to work in the workshop of Professor Borodai V. She further pursued her education as a graduate student at the Ukrainian Academy of Arts. She is an esteemed member of the Union Artists of Ukraine and has been actively participating in numerous international and all-Ukrainian exhibitions since 1987. Her remarkable artworks have found their place in private collections across various countries, including Ukraine, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Austria, the USA, Mexico, and Germany.
