I used a mixture of two different black stoneware clays for the face and a white stoneware for the horns which I also polished and coated with terra sigilata to achieve a shiny realistic[...]
Ceramic sculpture of a Ouessant ram named Bouly who is my next door neighbour! A very handsome beast who loves biscuits which I use to bribe him to pose for photos!
I used a mixture of two different black stoneware clays for the face and a white stoneware for the horns which I also polished and coated with terra sigilata to achieve a shiny realistic finish. The sculpture is mounted on a very heavy iron and wood mount which was made to measure by a local blacksmith.

I graduated from the University of the West of England in 1990 with a BA Hons in Ceramics. I arrived in France in 2001 and proudly took French nationality in 2018.

I create unique pieces of animal art using my love of the natural world. I’ve always had animals in my life and am a keen observer of the wildlife around me. My passion brings sculptures to life revealing their unique characters using careful observation and facial expressions. A slight incline of the head, a sparkle to the eyes makes the difference between a stiff model and an expressive magical work of art. I like connecting with my subject and bringing out the emotions for my audience to enjoy.
