Rowena Lopez

ARTIST PROFILE
Rowena “tamange” Escano Lopez was born in Manila, Philippines in 1978. Like many artists, she enthusiastically created drawings at an early age. She works predominantly in the medium of painting, but also do computer graphics design, silk screen printing on fabrics, and Styrofoam art for backdrop and decor.
Rowena studied Fine Arts major in Advertising Art in University of Santo Tomas in 1995-1999. She did not seriously considered art as a career immediately and only moved to painting full-time in 2010. Since then, she had joined group art exhibits including – Amang Bayan Group Exhibit, at SM Sta Mesa, June 2010, and in Makati City, August 2010. Biglaan Group Exhibit held at The Outerspace Gallery, Makati, in September 2011. Be Still Group Exhibit held at The Enterprise, Makati, in November 2011. To further explore her passion, she started teaching art classes in 2011.
Although she varies her subjects, faces and figures are her true obsession. In a notoriously hard to crack art world, she just continue to do what she loves to do. “It’s not just a work of art, what you have there is a piece of my heart and a part of my soul” she said.
