When the art of portraiture from the late 19th century collides with the art of cosplay. The costume of intimate art dialogues with the art of costume. In the studio of this discreet and prolific artist, a gallery of female portraits unfolds. The women are elegant with fine features and a diaphanous complexion. The tight framing invites us to better grasp the intensity of the gaze, the movement of the lips, the carnal curves and the density of the character. The details of the background provide keys to better decipher the state of mind of the models and their environment. In the light of the studio, the artist seems haunted by frail or luscious madonnas with a benevolent and determined gaze. Paul LAURENZI bases his research and his message more on the image than on technical performance. Some women are strictly dressed in black fabrics, vinyl and other translucent materials, which modestly reveal their attributes. Our gaze delicately delves into this unique universe. The palette of colorful grays and bright colors animates and enhances the dark costumes with puritanical details and Victorian accents. The transparency of her oil painting, enhanced by touches of subtle light, reveals clever superpositions, extracts of lace, a waist cincher or even a garter belt. Everything is staged, fantasized, even sexualized and the innocence of popular imagery sprinkled here and there reminds us that here everything is just a projection of repressed impulses of feminine desire. The artist creates tension, the mercury rises.

Paul Laurenzi's artistic journey began in the south of France, where he participated in various exhibitions and painting fairs between 1987 and 1991. During this period, he also explored other art forms, such as illustration, packaging, posters, and book covers.

It was in 1991 that he found himself exhibited in a gallery for the first time, alongside the works of Bernard Buffet. Following a solid success allowing him to access the professional status of painter, he had a series of solo and group exhibitions in different galleries, scattered throughout the major cities of the south of France.

Then in 1994, he held a solo exhibition at the erotic bookstore-gallery Les Larmes D'Eros in Paris, accompanied by the publication of an illustrated booklet, entitled "L'Amante Religieuse" (now a "collector's item"). There he met several renowned artists, such as Alex Varenne, Gilles Berquet, Hubert de Lartigue, Jean Pierre Ceytere and Marc Caro.

In the following years, he still exhibited in various French galleries but also in Switzerland. He continued his artistic collaborations in various fields such as television and literature: rental of works for television series, guest on the show "La Grande Famille" on Canal + etc…. In addition, two of his paintings will be used to create the covers of the reissue of the novel "Emmanuelle" by "La Musardine" editions. Then it is the cinema which calls on his talents: One of his paintings will appear in the film by Cédric Klapisch "Ni pour, ni contre".

Paul Laurenzi, whose work is now very present on the Internet and social networks, exhibits regularly, notably in Paris and Brussels where he meets Tanino Liberatore. He also carries out commissions for Internet users, individuals residing in France, the United States, Canada, Australia, China, etc.

His rich and varied artistic work has explored for almost forty years diverse and captivating themes where the feminine prevails, by turns wise or sulphurous, but always represented with great sensuality.
