Patrick Rousseau is a contemporary French painter. Rousseau's art is a skillful amalgamation of equilibrium between motion, positive nostalgia, and exploration. His artistic magic lies in a transcendent light that radiates from each of his paintings, imbuing them with an ethereal inner glow.
His artistic journey led him to study at the Beaux-Arts in Angoulême, where he delved into diverse techniques. Among these, painting captured his heart most profoundly. An ardent traveler at heart, the artist embarked on journeys that spanned his native region and extended along the Atlantic coast. His odyssey then carried him to the heart of the mountains in Argentina, where he immersed himself in understanding people, their traditions, and their inner worlds. Despite cultural disparities, he discovered that shared desires unite humanity.
From these experiences, he moved on to explore cities like Prague, Florence, Venice, and Rome, eventually finding a home in Paris. Rousseau meticulously documented his travels in sketchbooks, which he later translated onto canvas with his brush. His colors are enhanced with the deft use of a palette knife, perpetually illuminated by his signature pastel tones. More recently, he's ventured into bold reds and blues while upholding an atmosphere of whimsy. Throughout his artistic journey, oil painting has remained a constant, his ever-reliable companion.
An insatiable seeker of subjects, Rousseau finds inspiration in his surroundings. The urban landscape teems with life, with characters who inhabit his canvases. These figures often mirror the artist himself, as well as the ordinary citizens to whom he imparts flights of joyful imagination. The city is his muse, a realm of secrets and stories that he endeavors to unveil behind every window.
Bridges, in particular, hold a special significance in Rousseau's work. They symbolize not only a physical passage to new horizons but also the metaphoric leap into uncharted territories. Both a painter and sculptor, Rousseau's existence is intertwined with color and movement. He becomes one with the characters he creates, attentively observing every nuance of their motion. In his daily life, painting and music coalesce as passions that fuel his artistic soul.
