In the creation of works, the most im- portant for me is idea, concept, research, and the choice of medium — as a tool. Contrary to professional judgment, I do not aspire to develop one recognizable style.
Main topics, the leitmotif of the works — is a digital footprint of man, loneliness, problems of choice, heredity of generations and the phenomenon of time.

We invite you to the opening of the exhibition of the artist Olga Drozd (Ukraine) on October 8 at the Ethno Museum Klenik (Klenik 22, Pivka) at 18.00Eng/Slo/RuThe project For One Another by Ukrainian conceptual artist Olga Drozd, currently on display in the Slovenian Ethno Museum Klenik, is a kind of bridge connecting different times.
Why did the cooperation between the Center of Contemporary Art Pivka and the Muse um began with this project? How are Olga’s multi-layered transparent abstract watercolor paintings aligned with ancient peasant artifacts?
To us the general basis of this connection is simplicity. That ontological fundamental “simplicity” is the root of the complex Universe. The objects of peasant lifestyle are simple, but thanks to those objects Slovenia remains a country whose beauty and comfort never cease to amaze throughout the centuries.
At first, Olga’s watercolor paintings cause strange bewilderment — as if there is no action in the paintings. But as soon as you take your eyes off, the paintings pull your attention back. Thin layers gradually create interlacing lines and suddenly the artwork, with general simple composition, comes alive. Layers and lines condense and move towards one starting point — the vertical «womb», capturing your attention. This «womb» pulls everything inside and then releases bright life-creating beams of light.
The eroticism of Olga’s artwork is consonant with the eroticism of Earth that is plowed and by opening itself, ready to take a seed to give life.
Olga’s Project is on the edge between Contemporary art and the fine qualities of Traditional painting. Zakaj smo v Centru sodobne umetnosti Pivka pričeli sodelovanje z Muzejem ravno s tem projektom? Kako so večplastni prosojni abstraktni akvareli Olge povezani s starinskimi kmečkimi izdelki in orodji?
Osnovo te povezave vidimo v preprostosti. To je ontološka temeljna preprostost, iz katere zraste kompleksno drevo univerzuma.
Vsakdanja kmečka orodja so preprosta, a ravno zaradi njih je Slovenija skozi stoletja dežela, katere lepota in urejenost vsakič znova navdušuje.
Olgini akvareli najprej zbudijo neko začudenje, zdi se, da se na njih nič ne dogaja. A takoj, ko pogledaš stran, te nežno prisilijo, da se vrneš k njim. Tanke plasti postopoma ustva-
rijo prepletanje linij, in slike — kljub kompozicijske nezahtevnosti — se nenadoma začnejo premikati. Plasti in linije se združujejo in premikajo proti eni sami začetni točki — navpični »maternici« (nožnici), ki pritegne pogled. Ta »maternica« vse povleče vase, in hkrati s prozornimi žarki izliva vse iz sebe in vse oživi.
Ta erotičnost Olginih del je v sozvočju z erotiko zemlje, ki je bila orana, in ki se odpira, pripravljena sprejeti vase seme, da bi podarila življenje.
Olgin projekt je na meji med contemporary art in tradicionalnim (v najboljšem pomenu besede) slikarstvom. Почему сотрудничество Центра современного искусства Пивка с музеем мы начали именно с этого проекта? Каким образом многослойные прозрачные абстрактные акварели Ольги сочетаются со старыми крестьянскими изделиями?
Для нас общей основой этой связи является простота. Та онтологическая основополагающая простота, из которой вырастает всё сложное древо мироздания.
Предметы крестьянского быта просты, но именно благодаря им Словения в течение веков остаётся страной, красотой и уютом которой не перестаем восторгаться.
А акварели Ольги сначала вызывают странное недоумение - в них будто ничего не происходит. Но как только отводишь взгляд - они мягко вновь заставляют вернуться к ним. Тонкие слои постепенно создают переплетение линий, и работы, при общей композиционной простоте, вдруг начинают двигаться. Слои и линии сгущаются и движутся к одной начальной точке - вертикальному "лону", затягивающему взгляд. Это "лоно" втягивает в себя всё, одновременно прозрачными лучами выпуская всё из себя и оживляя. Эта эротичность Олиных работ созвучна эротичности земли, которую вспахивают, и которая, раскрываясь, готова принять в себя семя, чтоб даровать жизнь.
Проект Ольги - пограничное состояние между contemporary art и традиционной (в лучшем смысле этого слова) живописью. И именно эта пограничность является пуповиной, связывающей традицию и современность, и позволяющая видеть, как современность рождается из традиции.Баграт Аразян, куратор

Photography forces us to pay tribute to the transience. Its only constant is the sensitivity of the creator to what could be called the trembling of the world. It is this sensitivity that gives a photograph, otherwise essentially a technical image, its aesthetic and symbolic dimensions. This also preserves photography’s ability to be a medium that is extremely reflective, sensitive to changes in time, trends, technologies, and optics.
This exhibition project represents a plurality of methods used within the photographic medium in Ukraine during the last almost three decades. This chronological framing is not random—during this period, photography has become a self-sufficient form in the system of Ukrainian contemporary art. Now, it is important to review this path in its entirety and in detail, in order to reveal the overall picture.
Despite the fact that this exhibition covers a wide range of authors and phenomena, it does not employ an encyclopedic approach and its emphasis is not on chronology, but on the processes in the medium itself. This allows us to feel, and hopefully comprehend, time over a relatively short duration, using the optics of photography. And that is possible not only by immersing oneself in the context of history, which is full of events and transformations, but also by demonstrating different approaches to the photography itself, revealing the medium-specific collisions that occurred at that time.
The exhibition will be on display from July 29 to September 5, 2021.
