“The Magic Mountain” (original title “Der Zauberberg”) is written by Thomas Mann in 1924. I made a selection of 42 text passages, and for every passage I will make a painting. Not from A to Z, but at random. “The Magic Mountain” is a novel about a young man, Hans Castorp, who visits his cousin in a sanatorium in Switzerland. Initially with the intention of staying there for 3 weeks, but instead it will be 7 years. The book is what is called a "coming of age" novel, in which the journey to adulthood of the main character plays an important role. But “The Magic Mountain” is also a novel of ideas with many philosophical considerations.
...................................................

“Let us honor time at least to the extent that the nature of our story allows. There is not that much time left in any case, it's rushing by slapdash as it is, or that's too noisy a way of putting it, it's whisking past hurry-scurry. A little hand measures our time, minces along as if measuring seconds; and yet, whenever it cold-bloodedly moves past a high-point without bothering to stop, that still means something, though God only knows what. We have been uphere years now, that much is certain – a dizzying stay, an addict's dream, but without opium or hashish. The censor will soon be after us. And yet to counter all this nasty befuddlement we have intentionally introduced a great deal of clear reason and rigorous logic.”

Most of my paintings are inspired by books or music, they are a tribute to a certain author, philosopher, composer or artist and his/her work. Reproductions of my works are for sale by Artmajeur. People who are interested in the original work can send me a message. The ecoline paintings are framed (light oak or black aluminum), they have a passe-partout and a plate of glass on the front. Oil paintings have a wire on the back so they can be hung.
