Anastasia Kuznetsova was born in 1986 in Ufa. She graduated from St. AL Stieglitz with a degree in artistic textiles (2005-2011), and the Ufa Humanitarian College with a degree in graphic design (2003-2004). Member of the Union of Artists, painting section (2017). Participant of many exhibitions in Russia and the USA. Lives and works in St. Petersburg.
Her painting is a reflection on simple things and how to realize reality through everyday actions. She deliberately suggests not to avoid, but, on the contrary, to focus on the daily rituals of our routine, reinforcing them with the additional introduction of fantastic elements. Thus, a “surrealistic effect” appears, making the works look like fragments of dreams. At the same time, the image itself still refers us to what we are used to seeing around us: a rumpled bed, a working TV, a served table. But they are always taken out of context and are often placed in a completely different environment. The compositional principle refers us to the collages of Max Ernst, who also collided images that were completely different in meaning within the same work, giving them absolute completeness. But if he composed a whole mythological plot around them, Anastasia Kuznetsova, on the contrary, cleans the composition of all unnecessary details. Even the background disappears. These "fragments of memory" are layered on top of each other, forming completely unexpected combinations. Monochrome only sharpens our impression of the contrast of these inconsistencies.
As a result, although the artist turns to the world of everyday things, this in no way turns her work into ordinary genre pictures. On the contrary, it brings his poetry to a completely different level, manifested through a kind of conflict of seemingly independent images, but somehow magically harmoniously existing together.
