Mikhail Evstafiev was born in 1963 in Moscow, Russia. Since childhood, inspired by the work of his mother, grandmother and great grandfather (all Russian sculptors) he has been drawing, sculpting, painting and photographing. He chose, however, a different career path and graduated from the Moscow State University with a Master's in International Journalism. He worked as a journalist in Afghanistan, Moscow, London and Washington D.C and wrote about conflict regions such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chechnya, Georgia, Nagorno-Karabakh, Tajikistan and Transnistria. In the mid 1990s he wrote and published the novel "Two Steps from Heaven". Mikhail now lives with his family in Vienna, Austria and devotes his life to art and painting. Mikhail Evstafiev's work has been exhibited broadly, including China, Europe, Russia and the United States and his paintings and photographs are in public collections in Moscow and in private collections in Andorra, Austria, Britain, France, Poland, Russia and the United States. His work has appeared in many leading, international magazines and newspapers and has been published in numerous books.
