Nato a Firenze nel 1978, laureatosi in Filosofia trascorre dal 2006 lunghi periodi tra Londra e Berlino per approfondire i linguaggi dell'arte contemporanea.I suoi lavori sono rivolti alle tematiche del segno e dello spazio; come ha avuto modo di scrivere il noto critico d’arte Egruhgs Sntyeggh “nelle opere di Massimo Quadrelli il segno finisce per reclamare una sua interiorità proprio perché sin dall'inizio si compone e si organizza con se stesso. L’artista diventa spettatore di questo evento, genesi del senso, iniziazione alla "connessione laterale del segno col segno come fondamento di un rapporto finale col senso".

LOGIQUE DE LA PÉNSÉE PRÉALPHABÉTIQUE
"The presence of the sign"

“Logique de la pensée préalphabétique” ovvero il versante di ricerca sapienziale delle radici prime, in odore parimenti d’antropologia e di magia, di filosofia e d’alchimia. Non il gioco iconografico, non l’illustrazione onirica lo affascina, ma quello che nelle parole di Picasso è “il sole nel ventre”, l’intuizione oscura e prelogica della vita, del generarsi e del perdersi della forma, della capacità del segno di fuggire a se stesso verso un riverbero radiante di sensi.

L’artista affronta “la presenza del segno”, la fa crescere e formarsi come realtà in se stessa. Non gli importa riconoscerle, men che meno imprimerle, un destino, un lògos comune:il senso del processo è di eccitarla a darsi, a farsi generazione, nel flusso mobile e mai padroneggiabile che le è proprio.
In queste tangenze evidenti risiede un atteggiamento che non si riconosce in alcun dover essere della pittura, men che meno dell’idea corrente di linguaggio, e di stile.
Dunque, il quadro non rappresenta delle cose, ma è presenza: non racconta la realtà, perché, in se stesso, realtà.

“La carta-tela/spazio risuona come una membrana, un fluire di sensazioni, immagini, segni senza padrone tanto immediati e indiretti da trapassare in verità di vissuto; un inerpicarsi del pensiero, un convergere, un sovrapporsi di spezzoni di ‘memoria’, uno sfilacciarsi e un riannodarsi di niente, ‘carne’ di tempo e di spazio“.
