Marlies Van Leeuwen is a contemporary Dutch artist. Her paintings and drawings are inspired by centuries-old examples of masters of the painting coast. Her passion for beautiful clothing originates from her fashion background, and she began to design contemporary clothing in applied art, laying the groundwork for her later painting work. She is always on the lookout for harmony in color, shape, and composition, and the applicability of modern techniques.
What makes it unique is the possibility to create this already developed form of painting with modern techniques, such as on an iPad Pro, and to print it on various contemporary surfaces. Her most recent works have been created entirely digitally. The artist finds this contemporary painting approach to be just as labor-intensive as painting with oil paint or drawing with pencil, but she enjoys the wide range of options, and it adds excitement to the process.
Marlies Van Leeuwen was born in 1948, in the Netherlands. She has exhibited her works nationally.
