Marita Jane

I have been creating art most of my life. From the first time I picked up a crayon, I found myself easily seduced by colors and textures. Before and after receiving a bachelor's degree in art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison I explored a variety of media, from art metals and textiles to acrylics and neon. But oils are my main avenue of expression. A macro photograph taken by a friend inspired a series of paintings portraying intimate views of flowers that showcase their innate and exotic sensuality. This ongoing series is done in a near photoreal style. However, because I allow the Muses to guide me, my body of work also includes more abstract styles that range from minimalist to expressionist in nature. I have an appreciation for beauty of all kinds, especially that which comes from the heart.
