Maria Romano, a contemporary Italian artist, delves deeply into introspective studies aimed at capturing the essence of the human soul through her intense and essential pictorial gestures. Her works are a reflection of the intricate ripples of the human ego, narrating multiple studies that intertwine female figures with surreal and metaphysical scenarios imbued with rich symbolism.

Born in Massa Lubrense, Maria Romano initially attended the Art School of Sorrento before embarking on a journey abroad in 1997. During her time overseas, she honed her artistic skills through self-study, nurturing her inherent passion for art. Upon her return to Italy, Maria seamlessly resumed her artistic pursuits, focusing on studying the intricate features of the human face and experimenting with various techniques, particularly pastels, mixed media, and oil painting.

As an artist, Maria believes in the gradual and continuous growth of her craft. Driven by an innate impulse to create, she meticulously selects and mixes colors, guided by an intangible force that seems to permeate the very air around her as she paints. While her art often reflects elements of realism, Maria is not confined by its constraints. Her imagination knows no bounds, allowing her to explore realms where creativity and imagination intertwine seamlessly.

Through her representations of predominantly female figures intertwined with symbols such as butterflies, children, and flowers, Maria delves into existential themes, seeking to unveil the profound yet often overlooked foundations of the human soul, particularly the essence of love.
