Dieses Bild habe ich vor fünfzig Jahren gemalt; damals sah ich noch nicht den Zusammenhang zwischen Malerei und Musik, der heute meine Arbeiten initiiert. Aber das Erforschen, suchen war schon damals ein Thema. So entstanden Bilder, in denen der Betrachter vielleicht Lagepläne, oder Spuren zu geheimen Plätzen sehen konnte. Titel hatten die meisten Bilder aus dieser Zeit auch noch nicht. Heute nenne ich dieses Werk "What I Did On My Holidays", in Anlehnung an ein fast gleichnamiges Album von Fairport Convention. Das hat mit dem Bild wenig zu tun, aber der Titel gefiel mir und ich fand ihn passend.
Verwendet habe ich Ölfarben auf grob zusammengenähten Stücken von grobmaschigem Stoff. Das Bild ist nicht gerahmt, wird aber mit rahmenähnlichen Schutzleiste geliefert.
