Mwarowa was born 1979 in the Chimanimani District, Manicaland Province, of south-eastern Zimbabwe. After completing his education in 1998, Mwarowa went to Harare to join his brother Fungani where he was introduced to stone carving. There he assisted his brother Fugani in finishing sculptures and thus gained experience and confidence until he himself became an independent artist. Mwarowa also worked for a number of years at the Chapungu Sculpture Park.

Mwarowa endeavors to create unique pieces, representing his own imagination. He prefers to work in the more colorful stones such as Lepidolite, Opal stone, and Leopard Stone. Mwarowa's sculptures have been exhibited in the Netherlands, Germany, USA and South Africa.

Shona sculpture, named after the most populous tribe in Zimbabwe, the "Shona" - another important tribe being the "Ndebele" - is probably the most important art form to emerge from Africa in the 20th century. This, after the Europeans had wrongly apostrophised African art as rather traditional, primitive and not very modern during the colonisation of Africa and in the decades thereafter.

African art has had a lasting influence on European modernism, as have Matisse, Klee and Picasso. This also applies to sculpture. In 1988, the London Sunday Telegraph, when asked who was the most important sculptor after the death of Henry Moore, received the answer from experts that perhaps three artists would come into question: Joseph Ndandarika, Sylvester Mubayi and Nicholas Mukomberanwa. All three come from Zimbabwe!
