Hope Wreath N.2 won one of three juror awards during the show Metamorphosis: Recycled, Repurposed, Reimagined at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center.
I am interested in litter and waste. My work attempts to understand behavior, change perception of materials and space.
Made of instant losers lottery tickets found on the streets in the NJ/NYC area.
This piece is inspired by the hand movement of crinkling the tickets after realizing the loss. The tickets found on the streets are either thorn in pieces, crinkled or whole.
My work is inspired by movement and energy as I have a background in dance and am connected deeply to my body and my senses.
Most of my artwork is also assembled mechanically, piece by piece.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
I love moving.
As long as I can remember, I was always interested in moving. Dance was my way into studying this world. It took many years and lots of traveling to understand in this messy field what I was really interested in.
It was not dance forms or styles.
My passion was really to learn the mechanics of movement, our animal-self.
With that I found Freedom, freedom from form, institutions, academia, competition, a safe and solid place where I could teach myself about myself where I could sense myself in relation to everything else.
With that I found the beautiful logic of life and its elements, the connection to my weight, my energy, gravity, air, life, The Earth, and It changed my placement in the world.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Form is the result of energy patterns, behavior, accidents, chemical balance....
Form is always there
Possibilities are always there.
I sense energy around me.
I observe my body and how it connects to everyday life through movements.
I practice movement improvisation
I practice listening, seeing.
I practice using my hands.
I practice cleaning outside.
I practice patience.
I practice saying hi to people.
My work at least for now feels like a puzzle. Gathering pieces to understand the whole pictures, to fix what’s broken, to find what’s missing.
It helps me coping with the madness of the world of human beings.
It reminds me of beauty.
It keeps me hopeful.
It keeps me alert.
