Focus on Losers” is a series of artworks i m developing reflecting on the energy of losing everyday. This piece is one of several elements. Loser's Hope is composed of found losers lottery tickets. My neighbor brings them to me. He knows they will be used to create something beautiful. This work represents people's Hopes to win.

Loser's Hope is composed of found losers lottery tickets. My neighbor brings them to me. He knows they will be used to create something beautiful. This work represents people's Hopes to win.
My work is inspired by movement as I have a background in dance and am connected deeply to my body and my senses. Most of my works are moving installations. Here I am selling some of the elements from my Installations.
Art is a way to understand my surroundings and myself. A tool for learning and using my hands. Most of the artwork is also assembled mechanically.

Laura Quattrocchi  is a movement and visual artist. Laura was born in Padova, Italy and moved to New York City in 1995 to study contemporary dance and relocated to Detroit in 2016. Central to her dance development was studying improvisation  with Daniel Lepkoff, and Elaine Summers ( Kinetic Awareness). She discovers her interest in visual arts and fabrication after collaborating with visual artists on dance projects. In 2000 she joins shuagroup.org founded by Joshua Bisset. Her current practice includes concepts, fabrication, set design, performance and visual art.
She is a founding member of a community space called Andy Arts in Detroit.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
I love moving.
As long as I can remember, I was always interested in moving. Dance was my way into studying this world. It took many years and lots of traveling to understand in this messy field what I was really interested in.
It was not dance forms or styles.
My passion was really to learn the mechanics of movement, our animal-self.
With that I found Freedom, freedom from form, institutions, academia, competition, a safe and solid place where I could teach myself about myself where I could sense myself in relation to everything else.
With that I found the beautiful logic of life and its elements, the connection to my weight, my energy, gravity, air, life, The Earth, and It changed my placement in the world.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Form is the result of energy patterns, behavior, accidents, chemical balance....
Form is always there
Possibilities are always there.

I sense energy around me.
I observe my body and how it connects to everyday life through movements.
I practice movement improvisation
I practice listening, seeing.
I practice using my hands.
I practice cleaning outside.
I practice patience.
I practice saying hi to people.

My work at least for now feels like a puzzle. Gathering pieces to understand the whole pictures, to fix what’s broken, to find what’s missing.
It helps me coping with the madness of the world of human beings.
It reminds me of beauty.
It keeps me hopeful.
It keeps me alert.
