Lam Yau Sum
Lam Yau Sum graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art), Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (RMIT) in 2010, majoring in painting.
Life forms, forests and cityscapes are the elements that are commonly found in Lam’s work, with an evolution recently of his unique and creative visual presentation amongst his work. Using the circuit on an electric board as a foundation, Sum has developed an extraordinary technique of painting, represented by the very fine lines on the board. The skillful play of lines on a two, as well as three-dimensional space, delivers a lingering craft between the abstract and the figurative.
Lam had his first solo exhibition in Artist Commune in 2011 titled “LAM Yau Sum Solo Exhibition”. He had another solo exhibition in the same year named “Electron Landscape” in White Tube. Lam has also participated in International Art Exhibitions including Hong Kong International Art Fair 2011, Art Asia Miami 2010 and Fine Art Asia 2010. He has exhibited in several group exhibitions, including “9+2 Young Local Artists Exhibition” in K11; “Beautiful Journey, Beautiful World” in West Kowloon Cultural District; “Pictured Landscapes: A moment in time” and “NEW” in White Tube; “Vision”, a Hong Kong Contemporary Art Exhibition & Hong Kong Cancer Fund Charity Auction.
Lam Yau Sum recently won the “New Trend Award” in the exhibition of “New Trend 2010” at Artist Commune.
