I am a lacquer painter, and photographer. My work explore reflection. I take the picture of the subject in reflection in my canvas.
I aim to dissolve the frontier between painting and photography.
The grain, the fuzziness give the subject back his intimacy.
My pictures become impressionnist,
they give up the drawing line to keep only the essence of the character.
Time is freezing, as if an image was emerging from a dream you could not remember from where or when.
Mirror symbolize purity of the soul in Asia. Mirror enable self-contemplation. Because of the reflection the model is participating to the creation of its own image: self-contemplation allows the character’s introspection. I am here to capture this very particular moment when the character let his thoughts come across. Distorted by reflection, emerging of the darkness, the picture that remain is a draft, that give us the impression, the very vital of the subject.
By underlining light and reflection, as a painter, I attempt to capture the spirit, the essence of the characters I photograph.
