The almond blossom trees are a constant source of inspiration. They are the first tree that blossoms in January and February every year. Flowering blossom trees represent awakening and hope. Almond trees add a special charm to the landscapes of Andalucia. Their willowy, wispy branches and delicate flowers grace hillsides and craggy cliffside areas with an elegant beauty. The colours and scents of their blossoms bring the springtime countryside to life. It’s an amazing experience to drive through large expanses of land cultivated with almond trees, but even more delicious is to walk through the groves.
Kirsty Wain has been inspired by Van Gogh's painting of almond blossoms to paint this large close-up of the beautiful spring flowers in bloom. The brushstrokes are thick and heavily textured with vibrant and expressive marks.

"Almond Blossom" is an original oil painting on a 3cm deep stretched canvas. The piece is 85cm tall and 90 cm wide, and the sides of the painting are painted "wrap-around style," so the piece can hang without a frame.

Kirsty Wain is a contemporary British painter based in Spain, whose work explores the profound emotional connections between soul, place, and destiny. Her vivid, expressive paintings, rooted in post-impressionism and inspired by the bold colors and emotional freedom of Fauvism, translate natural landscapes and everyday still life into deeply personal, intuitive visual experiences.
Living in the sun-drenched regions of Andalucía and the Costa Blanca, Wain finds endless inspiration in the Mediterranean landscape. Her expressive depictions of olive groves, Jacaranda trees, fruit orchards, and coastal vistas reflect a reverence for nature and a sense of place charged with memory and spirit. These landscapes, while grounded in real geography, are rendered through layers of textured paint and fearless color, inviting the viewer into moments of stillness, reflection, and energy.Equally compelling are her still life flower paintings, where influences of Van Gogh, Matisse, and David Hockney are particularly apparent. In these works, vibrant floral arrangements burst with vitality and movement, their bold contours and saturated palettes echoing the modernist and postmodern traditions while remaining distinctly her own. Like her landscapes, these still lifes are less about representation and more about emotional resonance, capturing the essence of beauty in transient forms.
Wain’s recent work shows a marked turn toward Fauvist expression, where color is liberated from realism and used instead to evoke mood, memory, and identity. Her practice celebrates the natural world not only as subject but as a mirror of the inner self, painting as both reflection and release. Her paintings are held in private collections worldwide, admired for their emotional honesty, luminous colour, and poetic sense of place.
