Katerina Koehlerova
I was born 1976 in Prostejov, Czech Republic
Fine Arts, Music, Literature have been since my childhood true companions in my life.
I have had a great support from my parents and also from my husband recently, who encouraged me to paint and draw, explore all the possibilities in the arts.
In those following years between 1990-1994 my interest took me to the School of Applied Arts in Uherske Hradiste in order to achieve needed painting skills under the direction of two wonderful academic painters Mr. Miroslav Malina and Ms. Blazena Uiberlayova.
Many travels abroad and one Foreign Student Exchange Programme in Ipswich in Great Britain enabled me to develop myself as a sensitive artist with an acquired painting style of my own.
My motto follows the thoughts of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century artist Pierre - August Renoir that a picture should be something charming, beautiful and harmonious, because there are too many unpleasant things in this world.
Group Exhibitions:
1996 - The pedagogical faculty, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic
1997 - Student Cafe, Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic
2004 - Plumlov Castle, " Plumlov Walks " in the Czech Republic

My favourite techniques
I prefer the oil technique, pen and ink drawing or just a simple pencil drawing. One day, I would love to devote more time to learn again the graphic-print techniques e.g.: lithography, aquatint, etching etc. My financial situation prevents me from trying out more classical techniques at the moment.

Inspiration
The sense of beauty has a more important place in our lives than we would have ever thought. I search for the hidden beauty in things and want to share my experience with others. Had our perceptions no connection with our pleasures, we would soon close our eyes on this world. Plenty of topics but alas so little time to execute them. Using my senses gives me pleasure. I find my inspiration in nature.
As Jasper Johns, 1959 said:" I am generally against painting or art, which plays with the idea of simplicity.
As for myself, it all comes out in a complicated and painful way.
Melancholy Walks in the Czech City Plumlov

All the artists participating at the exhibition at the Plumlov Castle have a deep attachment to this city and its charming, full of forests, lakes and fields surroundings.
