The photos I took weren't very clear,so I used reference photos to create this painting. The aspect that impressed me most was the incredible motionless patience of the Lynx ,even if his prey was a simple dragonfly. This was added to the painting so as to give the subject interest.

Julian Wheat is a contemporary award-winning British painter. He showed above-average artistic and athletic ability from a young age, and these two characteristics would shape the course of his life. At the age of 28, he retired from competitive racing and spent the next 11 years traveling on a bicycle to such far-flung places as the Rocky mountains of America, and Alaska.

He's always been drawn to lonely, wild, and rough landscapes that haven't been tainted by man's hand. He began sketching and painting pet portraits and wildlife during his years of travel.

Julian Wheat was born in 1954, in the UK. He lives and works in France.
