'The Truth is Simple' is the first in this new series where the focus of the work is the exploration of black and white and how one complements the other. Reminiscent of the works of Robert Motherwell, Franz Kline, and Pierre Soulages this piece demands attention. Viewers will see a simple black mass painted over the white with a hint of teal in specific areas. I thought to cover up the teal and then decided that the immediacy of the work said more, so this work is spontaneous and gestural, with minimal second pass adjustment. The painting continues along the edges of the canvas. The painting is signed on the back.

This painting has been created using professional acrylic paint. A thin layer of Liquitex Professional Satin Varnish has been applied to protect against UV light.

The work is ready to hang with wire attached and is sold unframed.

Please Note:
- The in situ images are for display purposes only to show the work in different interiors and/or with suggested frames if desired. Please refer to the exact size of the work provided in the description.

Joyce Fournier is a Canadian multidisciplinary painter and sculptor living and working in Toronto. Art is her true passion and she has had an extensive practice for more than 25 years.

Joyce's current focus is Abstract Expressionist painting using a palette of white, black, and gold to create gestural pieces in a variety of collections inspired by the works of Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell, and Pierre Soulages. It is the immediacy of gestural painting that excites her. She wants those in her audience to see what uniquely speaks to them, depending on their situation.

Her secondary practice is in sculpture, both abstract and figurative.  Interpreting the human form was Joyce's first passion for which she was academically trained. Her most recent works are figurative sculptures in Clay and Bronze as well as mixed-media abstract wall sculptures (Formations Series).

Over the last fifteen years, Joyce has exhibited in solo and group shows within Canada and internationally. Featured on several occasions in American Art Collector magazine since 2009, her work is found in private and public collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe.
