It is a black and white abstract painting reminiscent of the works of Franz Kline, Pierre Soulages, and Joan Mitchell. The painting is exuberant with an immediacy in the strong brushwork in black and markings. There has been little adjustment after the initial paint placement therefore, what one sees is authentic and inspirational.
The sides of the painting are predominantly white due to the composition and the work is signed on the front and back. This painting is ready to hang (unframed) with a wire attached. Any in situ images are for display purposes only to show the work in a frame. This work is sold unframed.
This painting has been created using professional acrylic paint. A thin layer of professional satin varnish has been applied to protect against UV light. The work will be sent accompanied by a certificate of authenticity

Joyce Fournier is a Canadian multidisciplinary painter and sculptor living and working in Toronto. Art is her true passion and she has had an extensive practice for more than 25 years.
Joyce's current focus is Abstract Expressionist painting using a palette of white, black, and gold to create gestural pieces in a variety of collections inspired by the works of Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell, and Pierre Soulages. It is the immediacy of gestural painting that excites her. She wants those in her audience to see what uniquely speaks to them, depending on their situation.
Her secondary practice is in sculpture, both abstract and figurative. Interpreting the human form was Joyce's first passion for which she was academically trained. Her most recent works are figurative sculptures in Clay and Bronze as well as mixed-media abstract wall sculptures (Formations Series).
Over the last fifteen years, Joyce has exhibited in solo and group shows within Canada and internationally. Featured on several occasions in American Art Collector magazine since 2009, her work is found in private and public collections in Canada, the USA, and Europe.
