Born in the city of Porto in 1963, João started taking pictures at the age of 17 (1980), thanks to a friend and influence from the French current.
In 1995 he decided to take training with the aim of becoming a professional photographer, having designed his own course for the purpose, which he completed over the next 4 years. This self-taught course included the theory and practice of portrait photography, studio (lighting), sports reporting, social reporting, landscape photography and product photography.
He began his professional career in 1999. He worked for Siemens (Revista Diálogo) and several companies (agencies) linked to communication in the Porto metropolitan area. In 2006 he moved to Cascais, where he lives and works as a freelance photographer.
He was a contributor to the Blog Fashion Heroines, for which he covered several Fashion Weeks (Lisbon). He founded JLpress in 2016, where he also worked as Editor-in-Chief and photographer.
As a photographer, he carried out several reports of a social nature (Colorida Art Gallery), sports (European Le Mans Series, Volvo Ocean Race, Estoril Open, among others) and cultural.
Launched the book Alfama 51 Olhares, under the seal of Alma Lusa, editions Journey Spirit Lda. in 2019.
