Autodidacte, j'ai pratiqué l’aquarelle pendant une vingtaine d’années, puis l’huile au couteau depuis 25 ans, matière correspondant plus à ma nature « opérative » par son épaisseur et la sensation de « glisse » sensuelle du couteau à enduire sur la toile. Celui-ci me permet plus d'épaisseur que la spatule, plus souple.
Je n’utilise que de la peinture à l’huile, l’acrylique ne me convenant pas du fait de sa fluidité et de l’acidité que je perçois dans ses couleurs.
J'ai exposé régulièrement dans mon atelier-galerie, ancien lavoir couvert rénové dans les Yvelines, ainsi que lors de nombreuses expositions privées ou collectives en région parisienne. Mes aquarelles et huiles ont été récompensées par quelques prix, dont celui du Conseil Général des Yvelines.
Désormais en retraite en Normandie, je peux me consacrer plus assidûment à ce qui est devenu maintenant une véritable passion au sein de ma galerie, rue des Juifs à Granville et de mon atelier à domicile, au bord des « Herbus » à Vains, source d’inspiration permanente par ses ciels magnifiques et changeants.
Je participe à des expositions collectives en Normandie, parfois en invité d’honneur et au sein de l’association Granvillaise « Le Fil Rouge » que je contribue activement à faire vivre.
La plupart de mes œuvres sont des paysages imaginaires. En effet, je fait appel au « fortuit ».
Je pose une toile vierge sur mon chevalet et étale des plages de couleurs cueillies sur ma palette sans réfléchir. Puis j'observe le résultat pendant plusieurs jours en tournant la toile dans tous les sens, jusqu’à voir une ébauche de paysage ou nature morte. Je travaille alors à nouveau ce sujet en m’efforçant parfois de rester minimaliste.
Il me semble que quand je peins, ma main est directement reliée aux "cases mémorielles" de mon cerveau et y puise de manière inconsciente les souvenirs de mes différents voyages.
Ma démarche actuelle tend à simplifier les sujets, à les dépouiller pour en saisir la "substantifique moelle" en recherchant en premier lieu des "lignes" et des "plages de couleur" évocatrices pour l'observateur.
