ART STATEMENT


Art is like the ekstasies of the Greeks, in the sense of, "staying outside and beyond the self," where the conjunction of the present, past and future are synonyms of eternity.
Being this mysterious triad, the ethereal muse of my inspiration and exaltation towards the truth that life itself carries within its own soul, and to that silent death who, "lives incarnated," in the physical and psychical nature of inorganic and organic matter. Producing out of these polarities or complements, the scientific or religious immersion at the moment the finitude of the organic world in its different stages, creation, preservation, decomposition and disintegration is veiled. Where these biological, philosophical, or religious symbols are the convergence of axioms, theories and dogmas in myself, therefore to my art.

Being this truth, what induces my inspiration to rise to a more utopic self within the individuality and originality in the style-quality factor exalted in my works to the present day, where the same anxiety co-exist in the cyclic superiority and internal refinement that only the future can mature. This self-imposed goal is what my will undertakes to fulfill more determined and complex works of art.

It is my wish to express the slow process of integration as explorer of my genetic art, where the symbols, colors, forms, time and space are primordial philosophies in this special cosmic language as is Art itself, where universal matter is the alchemy, and the art instruments are the medium to invoke the eckstasies to its own expression, where the art-ascendant sphere demands perfection in the consecution of all art works, and where the transcendence of truth in its own mysticism is needed as the key for the artist, poet or philosopher to complete or execute the works to its superlative degree, within an historical context of the aesthetic science.

This is the "machine" where all my things are created.......it is my santuary of inspiration !!!!!!

I love every second I am there, never boring. always creating something new.....painting, pastels,photo-lab, collages, digital, writing poetry etc ......all of this while I listen to philosophical or mystical audio tapes that I borrow from the Library.

sometimes a good music in the middle........

BIOGRAPHY

I was born in the province of Melchor Muzquiz in the northern state of
Coahuila, Mexico. On February 19, 1954. My parents were Don Roman
Galan de la pena y Dona Lucila Muzquiz Rodriguez
It seems that love for painting runs in the genes of my ancestors. I can say
so, because the high number of relatives with this talent or tendency. Its
evident that my genetic and artistic heritage finds its expression through
different media (Painting, photography, poetry, ceramics etc.) as part of the
process of self-identification and realization within the arts.
Basically, I am a self-taught artist. I have been my own teacher for more than
20 years, discovering within the versatility of my style different trends of
painting as cubism, surrealism, abstract etc., and without having any
preference, I keep experimenting all of them.
It is worth mentioning the ability to draw since childhood, where my most beloved
subject was to create out of my imagination the facades of modern houses. Here
the child architect who enjoys the pleasure to mold space through lines, angles
and colors, which I interpret as the bridge to understand cubism. So it was
geometry, the science that helped me to create and develop my own style, and it
was literature, the art, that increased the interpretation of my own hieroglyphics.
It was reading about the great modern painters that gave me the
feeling of confidence, a feeling of belonging to a certain psychological
sameness, a feeling of radical transition from centuries of traditional art. In
other words, whatever I create in my own era, is a legacy from their pioneer
and profound vision.
It was during my high school days in the early 70's, while living in Monterrey
Mexico, when I began to read a lot of spiritual and didactic books, which
increased my sensibility toward life and art. Then in 1975, I moved to Austin,
Texas where I became serious in expressing myself through the art of painting.
Since then I have been living and working on my project, in cities such as:
Mexico City, Guanajuato, Mex., San Antonio and Austin Tx. USA.......

Biografia

Naci en la provincia de Muzquiz en el estado norteno de Coahuila, Mexico. en una madrugada del dia 19 de Febrero de 1954.
Mis padres fueron Don Roman Galan de la Pena y Dona Lucila Muzquiz Rodriguez. Que en paz descancen.

Parece ser que la pasion por la pintura corre en los genes de mis ancestros. Lo puedo decir asi, por le alto numero de primos y parientes con esta tendencia. Es evidente que mi herencia genetica-artistica encuentra su expresion a travez de diferentes medios, como son la pintura, poesia, fotografia, ceramica etc. y como parte de un proceso de auto-identificacion y realizacion dentro de las artes.
Basicamente soy un artista autodidactico. He sido mi propio maestro por mas de 20 anos, descubriendo dentro de la versatilidad de mi estilo, diferentes corrientes de la pintura como son el cubismo, surrealismo, abstract etc.......y sin tener preferencia sigo practicandolas todo el tiempo.
Vale la pena mencionar mi habilidad para dibujar desde mi ninez, donde el tema mas querido era el crear con mi imaginacion las fachadas de las casas modernas. He aqui el nino arquitecto quien disfruta el placer de moldear con lineas, angulos y colores una realidad espectro-geometrica, lo cual interpreto como el puente para entender lo Cubista de la realidad. Asi que fue la Geometria la ciencia que me ayudo a crear y desarollar mi propio estilo.......y Literatura el arte que me ayudo a interpretar mis propios jeroglificos.
Fue el leer acerca de los Grandes Pintores Modernos que me dio un sentimineto de confidencia, un sentimiento de pertenecer a una igualdad psicologica, un sentimiento de transision radical de los siglos the arte tradicional......en otras palabras" todo lo que llegue a crear dentro de las artes en mi propia epoca....es el legado de su pionera y profunda vision"
Fue durante los anos de preparatoria en los tempranos 70's mientras vivia en Monterrey, Mexico. cuando empeze a leer con mayor interes libros espirituales y didacticos, lo cual incremento mi sensibilidad hacia la vida y al homo-artisticus que hay en mi. En 1975 me mude a Austin Tx.USA donde tome con mayor seriedad el expresarme con las artes. desde entonce he vivido y trabajado en mi arte-projecto en ciudades como Mexico city, Monterrey Mex, San Miguel de Allende Mex, Austin and San Antonio Tx USA ........una vez mas !
