Many elements in this painting refer to the binary principle. The tree has split branches which refer to a symmetrical binary tree, the most simple form of a fractal. The bottom forms the root for my tree.
To cheer up the back, I drew a vase.

Belgian contemporary artist, mainly autodidact in painting (2016-), digital drawing (2000-2015) and graphic design (2005-2015).
Her background in software engineering brought her to digital drawing using Adobe Illustrator. Between 2005 and 2015 she created illustrations with graphic pen. These vector drawings are cheerful, original and poetic, with a cartoonish touch.
Since 2016 Inke paints on canvas, using acrylic. Her paintings give meaning to her way of coping with life: question your position, leave your perspective and allow another perspective. She incorporates elements from comic strips, graphic design, pop art and surrealism.
In the meantime she maintains two collections of paintings next to each other: the above described semi-figurative pop style with bright colours, flat forms and clear lines ; and a second collection in an impressionistic style with nocturnal views of the city, works in which she allows the melancholy.
On her website inkebemelmans.be you can find a collection of her paintings, digital illustrations and poems.
