Born in Barcelona, Spain, Hugo Zapata inherited a passion for art and design from his father, a passion that shaped his artistic journey. His apprenticeship took place between Seville and Barcelona, two cities rich in culture and creativity.
Hugo studied at the École des Arts et Métiers, specializing in stone and wood sculpture. Subsequently, he continued his studies in photography at the GISART school in Barcelona, thus broadening his field of artistic expression.
Over the years, Hugo Zapata has acquired recognized expertise in design and photography, which has enabled him to become a member of several associations and juries linked to these fields. He was a member of ADG-FAD (Association of Art Directors and Graphic Designers) and Art Directors Europe. He was also a member of ICOGRADA International, an international graphic design organization.
His professional career has led him to work in several renowned agencies and companies in Spain and abroad. He has held senior positions as a creative director and designer, leaving his mark on numerous advertising campaigns and design projects.
Hugo Zapata has collaborated with various clients and agencies in Spain, Italy, France, Russia and the United States. With over 29 years of experience, he has developed his design and photography work in over 70 countries, working for major accounts such as Coca-Cola, Matutano, Aceites del Sur, Coca-Cola Spain, Freixenet, Mattel, and many others.
His talent in packaging design has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Best Packaging Design Awards in 2013 and 2014, awarded by renowned agencies in Paris and Rome.
Today, Hugo Zapata continues to practice his art with passion and creativity, bringing his expertise and unique perspective on design and photography to varied projects around the world.
