Born in Marseille, I've lived in the Pyrenees since the 1980s; my artist name naturally transformed into Pyrène, the name of the legendary princess who gave the Pyrenees its etymology.
At 20, I had no idea that the hay barn behind me in the photo would become my studio... Coming on vacation to Ariège, I literally fell under the spell of this remote and wild corner where the hamlet's neighbors still plowed with oxen. To pull the hay, they used heavy wooden sleds without wheels because of the steep slopes... My first black & white film photographs, proposed for a photography option in Visual Arts, were born from this wonder. Roland, my partner, and the great photographer Willy Ronis, my teacher at the time in Aix-en-Provence, guided me well in learning this art, which has always been part of my means of expression. Today, this long practice of photography has given me the desire to explore video.
So I wanted to live in Ariège, and that's where my children were born; it took us many years of work... because, like in the Wild West, everything had to be done, and that was the kind of life I wanted.
At that time, I drew a lot; before taking up painting, I used graphite, charcoal, and ink extensively. I loved the live model workshops I attended at the Beaux-Arts de Luminy in Marseille, and at those in Aix-en-Provence and Nîmes; In Ariège, I drove miles at night to join a group of artists driven by the same passion.
The years passed... I drew, engraved, painted, modeled, wrote poetry, and kept an almost daily journal. (See my itinerary on my website: )
At 14, I wanted to become a writer, but I became a visual artist; It was at the age of 50 that I allowed myself to write my first 375-page novel and self-publish it:
"JOIF or AVANIE in HAVANA"
This novel is part of my life, it is my life even though it is fiction: (All about JOIF):

Two trips to Egypt inspired me to create my first travel journal, which will soon be published. Titouan Lamazou's travel journals inspired me a lot... In 2011, I participated in the Clermont-Ferrand festival: page-il-faut-aller-voir
