Fabrizio Sgrò, born in 1971 in Calasetta on the island of Sant'Antioco in southern Sardinia, is a contemporary Italian artist known for his surrealistic works. A self-taught artist, Sgrò began his artistic journey in painting, creating images that explore the boundary between the real and unreal, delving into a personal microcosm filled with hidden meanings. His paintings reflect an ongoing exploration of surrealism, an aesthetic that would later become a common thread in his sculpture work.

A few years after starting with painting, Sgrò transitioned to sculpture, where he continued to express an almost absurd reality, transfiguring everyday objects and scenes into something dreamlike and fantastical. His works, both in painting and sculpture, transport viewers to a surreal dimension where anything seems possible.

In recent years, Sgrò has also ventured into photography, blending his surrealist vision with digital manipulation to create images rich in symbolism and layered interpretations. His photography often portrays nature, animals, and glimpses of his native Sardinia, where his mastery of light and shadow creates magical, atmospheric scenes that highlight the beauty of his surroundings. Despite his exploration of various media, Sgrò’s work consistently emphasizes a surrealist approach, inviting viewers into a world of dreams and fantasy.
