Eric Avagyan is a contemporary Armenian artist based in Armenia, known for his innovative approach to art that blends various styles and philosophies. A graduate of the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts (YSAFA), Avagyan, while proficient in academic painting, views realism and romanticism as stages of the past. His artistic journey is deeply influenced by the works and philosophies of 19th-century European schools, which he studies to create a unique fusion of styles, particularly informalism and constructivism. This fusion draws not only from the Soviet variant of constructivism but also from its European counterpart that emerged during the same period.

Avagyan’s work is characterized by the interaction of form, line, and color with the background, aiming to reflect both personal and universal events and experiences. His compositions often feature objects, movement, plasticity, and color in space, all connected by underlying formulas that explore significant themes such as history, love, militarism, and politics. For Avagyan, composition is a fundamental and constructive element, essential to both his artistic creations and his broader worldview. He believes that if there is a point, there must be something that anchors it on the surface.

Currently, Avagyan focuses on adhering to the principles of formalism, striving to achieve harmony in the density of paint and the integration of the second and third planes in his work. His art is a continuous exploration of how these elements interact to convey deeper meanings and emotions.
