Original Artwork refers to any work that is considered authentic and not a copy or imitation of the original works of an artist. Original artwork can be any type of painting, sculpture, performance, or other media. There are many types of original media. Mixed media includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. For workshop paintings that bear evidence of master craftsmanship, this attribution must be further qualified. While they may be less valuable for different reasons, reproductions and copies have had a tremendous impact on our experience. They reach a greater audience than originals and act as a tonic against commodification. Original Artwork could also refer to the first work, which is always preceding all others. This painting was started on location at Tintagel on the Cornish coast. I had walked further on from the ruined Castle (legendary home to King Arthur) and sat down to capture this beautiful scene of the rocky coastline.
The painting was later completed in my studio.

Painting Pastel

Pastel is an instrument widely used in plastic arts. Taking the form of a colored plastic stick, it is composed of pigments, a filler (chalk or plaster) and a binder (gum arabic, oil, wax). We mainly distinguish fatty pastels (oil or wax), dry pastels, whether soft or hard. Invented in Europe at the end of the 15th century, this tool was very quickly used by great portrait painters of French royalty, such as Charles Le Brun, Rosalba Carriera, Jean Siméon Chardin or Maurice Quentin de La Tour, who will be considered the "Prince of pastellists", thanks to a method of fixation of which only he knew the secret.

Pastel

Drawing made with a colored stick. It consists of pigments, a charge and a binder. A distinction is made between dry pastels (soft or hard) and fatty pastels (oil or wax).

Technic Painting

Painting is an art form of painting on a surface by aesthetically applying colored fluids. Painters represent a very personal expression on supports such as paper, rock, canvas, wood, bark, glass, concrete and many other substrates. I have been painting for over twenty years and my first exhibition caught the eye of a renowned publishing house which set me off on a successful illustrating career. To date I have had more than a hundred pieces of artwork published as greeting cards, calendars and stationary and have worked with many publishers including the Medici Society, Gibson Greetings and Nigel Quiney. I have had three major one woman exhibitions; Norwich Cathedral, The Gallery Wymondham and The Assembly House Norwich. I have also had work selected for The National Exhibition Wildlife Art in Liverpool, Art in Nature Museum Gloucestershire, Laing and Patching. These days, you will find me painting at the bottom of the garden in my log cabin studio in the heart of Norfolk surrounded by agriculture and huge dramatic skies. My studio is full of art books, pots, tea cups and vases, jars of dead beetles, butterflies and bees (all found already deceased) many paintings finished or half completed and lots of reference photos, sketches and inspirational quotes and prints. There is always a vase of flowers on my painting table and a mug of tea. Paint tubes (sennelier is my favourite at the moment), paper, magnifiers and my I-pad tablet are always close at hand, I can get lost in a painting for hours, completely engrossed in the excitement of creating a new painting. My botanical and wildlife watercolours are built up using layers and layers of rich colour and detail; I often leave the background white so as not to detract from the image. When using oil paints or soft pastels I work more quickly with a looser more impressionistic style. Colour is still very important and I use many layers to build up rich luminous colours.

Recently I ave been working on European landscapes many of which are painted entirely on location or started out doors and later finished in the studio. I am fascinated by colour and light in the landscape and have a passion for painting wildlife in their native habitat.
