Suo Yuan Wang, a Chinese artist living in France, embodies a harmonious marriage between Asian artistic traditions and western influences. Born n Shanghai, China, he began his artistic journey in the world of jewellery, training to set diamonds and apprenticing at the Shanghai Diamond Factory. However, his passion for the visual arts soon led him to explore other horizons.
In 2002, Suo Yuan Wang decided to move to France to pursue his artistic studies. He joined the École des Beaux-Arts de Versailles, where he specialised in engraving. After graduating, he deepened his knowledge by learning the Hayter method and burin technique at Atelier Counterpoint (formerly Atelier 17).
Over the year, Suo Yuan Wang has developed a personal artistic practice, exploring variations in. line and seeking to create a unique pictorial style, nourished by. his dual Asian and Western culture. His works testify to an impressive technique mastery and a profound reflection on the themes of identity and transculturality.
His words has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions. In 2012, he was admitted to the collective printmaking workshop at the Cité international des arts, where he continues to develop his artistic projects. In 2023, Suo Yuan Wang has the opportunity to reside at OpenBach, where he could devote himself fully to his creations and explore new artistic avenues.
