This is the original monotype made by me in 2017. Reproduced from the image from my memory, not copied.

Sir Charles Spencer "Charlie" Chaplin (April 16, 1889 — December 25, 1977) was an American and English film actor, screenwriter, composer, film director, producer and editor, a universal master of cinema, the creator of one of the most famous images of the world cinema — the image of the tramp Charlipere to the section "#Image of the Tramp", which appeared in short comedies set on stream in the 1910s at the film studio Keystone[4]. Chaplin actively used the techniques of pantomime and buffoonery, although starting in the 1920s, his work began to pass much more serious social themes than it was in the early period of short films. Starting in April 1914, Chaplin began to act as a director and script writer for most films with his own participation, from 1916 he also produced films, and from 1918 he wrote music.

Monotype (other-Greek: µóνος — one, the only one, other-Greek: τυπος-image, print) is a type of graphic art and the technique of printed graphics, which is not an engraving. The image in this technique is applied by the artist with an oil brush or printing ink on a flat metal plate, which is printed on moistened paper under pressure on an etching machine. There is no engraving in the monotype technique, as well as the possibility of replication. The printed form remains flat, you can get only one high-quality print from it (hence the name), the second one turns out to be pale. After printing, the paint is washed off and the artist can use the metal plate a second time, but for a different image.

A characteristic feature of the monotype is the softness of the tonal transitions, the blurring of the contours, and the feeling of a free brushstroke, similar to painting. In many cases, the monotype resembles a watercolor on wet paper. The monotype can be black and white or colored.
