В 1980-х годах Василий Линник закончил художественную школу №4 г. Киева. Во время учебы в школе участвовал в выставках, которые проходили в различных организациях и предприятиях г. Киева, и занимал призовые места. Был победителем 1 и 2 тура выставки в Центральном Доме Художника (статья в газете «Вечерний Киев» от 07 февраля 1980 г.). Начиная с 2007 года в свет вышло более 70 работ различных размеров. Предпочтительная техника исполнения - сухая пастель, уголь. Стиль -фотореализм, суперреализм. Среди многочисленных работ есть портреты и пейзажи.Лучших картин нет, каждая из них дорога художнику, так как в каждую работу вложена частичка самого художника, особенно пастелью (прямой контакт с работой) и нет предела совершенству. Считаю картину удачной, если на неё хочется взглянуть снова и снова.
Дуже хочу, щоб в Україні, окрім таких чудових та майстерних технік живопису, як олія, акварель, гуаш, акрилові фарби, люди бачили, що також є і дуже цікаві, відомі і старовинні техніки, як суха пастель та вугілля.
В декабре 2017 года с картинами "Аромат свежести" и "Ветер страсти" принимал участие в ХV международной выставке Ukrainian Art Week /Украинская Неделя Искусств в городе Киеве,работы отмечены дипломами.
