Valy is an artist photographer who has been doing photography forever. Of course in film at first, but he adopted digital a few years ago.
For a long time he was a fan of black and white. This was for him, more “direct” than color. indeed color can “distract” the viewer from the subject while black and white goes more “straight to the point”. However, he currently uses color more and more often in an “illustrative” approach.
It becomes the subject in itself. These are then graphic, decorative representations that move away from a certain realism.
He was already fascinated by symbolism and surrealism as a dreamlike vision, an artistic expression of the subconscious, as much in painting as in photography or in literature, disciplines in which he draws his inspiration. This attraction, he tries today to communicate it through his images which can be described as "still lifes", They are objects transformed, staged, placed in surprising situations, in incongruous places, images always spicy with a touch of humor.
Valy lives and works in Mons in Belgium. His work is present in many private collectors.
