Biography
Sandra Clément is an artist photographer who plays with the effects of light and clarity. She likes what can be seen in the shadows. In development, she looks for deep blacks, bringing out the shadows just enough, going to the end of the contrast while keeping detail. She has always remained attached to Black and White, which she links to nostalgia, suspended time, sensitivity and which invites the eye to focus on the subject.
Since the end of 2018, women have been the exclusive subject of his artistic studio portraits. Each of these women has her particularities. A woman's body is always truly fascinating. He has his marks of life. The idea of removing these women from their environment, of isolating them on a black background to put them in the spotlight appeals to him. She comes with her intentions, her artistic ideas and what I have in mind, but in the end the portrait that will be chosen will be the one in which the light emanates from this woman and this portrait will very often be the game of happy chance.
Sandra Clément lives and works in Sames (France). She studied photography and graduated in 1997 from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts Saint Luc in Liège, Belgium. We can see in his work the influences of Robert Mapplethorpe, Helmut Newton, Elliott Erwitt, Bill Brandt, Willy Ronis, Bettina Rheims. His works are present in many private collections.
