About this piece: Rudy’s wife here, stepping in to explain this piece. While hugging Rudy about a month ago, I felt something odd on the back of his head. I noticed that the back of his head was shaved, and there seemed to be a large rectangular cut in the area. I applied some antibiotic ointment on the cut, and we assumed that he must have unknowingly bumped his head on some sort of rectangular razor-wielding object. We thought nothing of it until last week, when he started acting strangely… even for him. I told him I loved him, and he replied, “You don’t love that disgusting pig… you love ME! Open the door on the back of the idiot’s head, and kiss ME!” He doesn’t recall saying any of this. I decided to take a closer look at the wound on the back of his head, this time noticing a door handle and three hinges on one side of the wound. It seemed to be some sort of access door. We agreed that his doctor should be the one to open it, just in case his brains were to fall out onto the floor. He scheduled an appointment for next month to have the wound looked at. Yesterday he woke up drooling with a glazed look in his eyes. He chanted in a deep monotone, “The idiot will not eat nor rest until he shows the world my magnificence. The idiot will not eat nor rest until he shows the world my magnificence.” Anyway, here is the painting Rudy just completed. I’m writing this description for him because nothing he’s saying is making any sense. This isn’t surprising, though, considering that his brain is currently being used as a bean-bag chair by a rather rude (but admittedly, handsome) autoanimated relic.

Please check out my new website for my most recent work, info about my artistic process, my blog, and more!

Recently, I began experimenting with acrylics. I have no formal training as an artist. I admire the works of Dali, Max Ernst, Dorothea Tanning, Giorgio De Chirico, and Rene Magritte, among others.
Usually, I paint it first; then think about what it all means to me. I think my current fascination with creation and re-birth is somehow connected to an increasing awareness of my own mortality. African masks interest me, and their beautiful/grotesque features often appear in my paintings.
