At first glance everything is extraordinary..and sometimes we try too hard to label and classify what we see. When perhaps it was something strange we look at it again and have to make it understandable and normal to our psyches.
We have traded far too much of our authentic self for meaningless numbers on a piece of paper. There are more interesting forms of mathematics to explore..the beautiful sequences found in the universe, repeating spirals and perfection of form. Science became a tool for depleting the environment..when science could instead have been turned outward to exploring space and perhaps exploring the meaning of our human existence. I love the work scientists do in quantum physics and cosmology and often feel the need to record my response to the ineffable quality of the conclusions drawn. I like to draw diagrams of imaginary scientific worlds and make them into paintings. I also enjoy the alchemy of pure abstraction..that which I don't understand and can't understand recorded on canvas, like a photograph of all that is beyond understanding. This is what abstract art means to me.
