Born on July 1, 1962, Robin SANTUS entered photography when he joined the Paris Photographic Club, the “30X40”, in 1991.
He then perfected his technique with Ralph GIBSON (1994), Martin PARR (2002) then Raymond DEPARDON (2003) with whom he studied at Workshops in Arles.
He won several significant prizes: “Un jour en France” (1988 / Book published by Editions Hachette Chêne), Grand Agfa Multicontrast Competition (4th prize, 1997), Galerie d’Essai des Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles (in 2003 and 2004) and winner of the HP Viviera tour (2005).
At the same time, he exhibited his work personally or during group exhibitions: Galerie Contrejour (Paris, 1998), 4ème Salon d'Arts Plastiques (Villeparisis, 1999), White Elephant Art Gallery (Paris, 2000), Galerie des Jeunes Auteurs (Arles, 2003), European House of Photography / screening organized by the association “Les Gens d’Images” (Collectif du Bac à Sable / Paris, September 2003), Galerie Photo Service Saint-Michel (Paris, 2004-2005), FotoNoviembre 2005 (Photography Month / Tenerife, Spain), OFF Photo Month (Paris, 2006).
He also creates record covers for the French rock group NAT'H.
The agencies Millenium Images (48 Belsize Square, London NW3 4HN) and EBLOUI (62 Bd Davout, 75020 Paris) distribute his images.
He claims his admiration as much for European colorists (Harry GRUYAERT, John BATHO) as for American landscapers (Stephen SHORE, Joël MEYEROWITZ). His idol will always remain… JeanLoup SIEFF…
He lives, works and raises his 2 children in the Paris region.
