Ink on paper/polymer composite, 8x10 inches
Windsor and Newton's archival pigment ink art markers (alcohol-based) and Sakura micron pigmented ink felt tip fine line pens on acid free archival "Artboard", a high quality paper composited with polymer to create an absorbent drawing surface that is more durable and rigid than paper (also warp and wrinkle-proof).

I have been experimenting with W&N pigment ink markers. They are attractive because of their archival qualities and their blending and layering properties. The W&N markers have hard tips and abrade the surface of many papers, but the Artboard resists abrasion well, while providing an absorbancy that locks in the ink and granulates the pigment somewhat.

I've been inspired to use inks and drawing media to re-interpret some of my favorite Early 20th Century paintings. Ink is a very different medium, and my own aesthetic is not identical to the well-known painters used as inspiration. The translation from their aesthetic to mine and from paint to ink involves adding detail, abstracting, and reworking ideas. It's been informative so far. This drawing was inspired by Egon Schiele's complex and moody landscapes.
