A unique handmade artwork ceramic figurine, "Miss Amalia" belongs to the series of small, original sculptures with fully-formed facial expressions and decorated bodies. This series I've entitled "Little Women". For each of my figurines there is a background story of sorts.
This is my "Miss Amalia".
But, here's the catch: once my figures are complete, I let them go. So, I really love the idea that those of you who might like or buy my sculptures, you can call them whatever you want. Or not to call them anything, and instead just enjoy them. Perhaps you’ll come up with a story of your own.
I'd like to add something technique-wise: this particular way of making art – the ceramics - is completely unpredictable. So due to its nature, and the way the items are made, one can never tell the final result with certainty. You can’t, even if you'd wanted, get two exactly same figures. Each one is unique.
So, if you feel you have someone unique in your life, someone who you think deserves a unique gift, this is your place.
That special someone might be you.

Elena Uljancic is a contemporary Croatian artist. She is a painter, ceramist, the director of the Poreč Museum and art lover. She has been taught by many great masters of the trade, Cristina Cordova, Efraim Rodriguez, Martin Lagares, and Andrew Joseph Keith.

Uljancic curiosity led her to find a new world hidden under a piece of clay. Her exploration into her own imagination and skills resulted in beautiful small sculptures. All her sculptures represent different elements of her inner world, some are enjoyable and pleasant to look at even at the first sight, others are more complex and darker.

Elena Uljancic was born in 1971, in Pula, Croatia.
