L’œuvre Pearl, « perle », emprunte ses traits à l’huître, cet écrin robuste, abris du précieux.
Elle rappelle le lien intrinsèque qui uni la vie terrestre, cette perle inestimable, à la mer.
Imagée tel un fossile, l’œuvre porte le symbole d’une vie passée presque oubliée. Elle évoque le souvenir d’une origine commune à tous les êtres humains, aquatique, à l’instar des premiers instants de vie au creux du ventre maternel.
Alors que sans eau aucune forme de vie n’est envisageable, l’humain n’a de cesse d’épuiser cette perle naturelle, condition pourtant sine qua non de son existence.
