''Glissando'' est un terme musical générique d'origine italienne qui désigne soit un glissement continu d'une note à une autre, soit le passage d'une note à l'autre par un groupe de notes intermédiaires.
Je considère que ma peinture abstraite est souvent très musicale par ses mouvements, ses rythmes, ses contre-points, ses staccatos ou légatos. Je crois que les personnes qui connaissent la musique classique ou qui y sont sensibles peuvent mieux apprécier ce que je tente d'exprimer par mes abstractions, en se laissant simplement porter par les mouvements, la lumière, les jeux de couleurs. Mes tableaux sont autant à regarder qu'à entendre...

Born in 1964 in Montréal, Maryse Lapointe grew up surrounded by paintings of Riopelle, Dallaire, Pellan, Borduas, Ferron, part of her father’s collection, singer and actor Jean Lapointe. She studied art history on her own and started to paint at the end of the 1990’s, influenced by figurative and abstract expressionism. Since then, she has participated in many group exhibitions and her solo shows since 2011 were well received. Her show Le Bruit du silence (The Noise of Silence) in 2017 was such a success that since, the important gallery Art Generation in Paris reprensents her work on paper. Maryse Lapointe’s oils on canvas and paper can be found in many collections in Québec, Canada, France and Germany.
Interested by all art forms, Maryse Lapointe plays piano and cello, has studied acting at the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal, and script-writing and film directing at the Université de Montréal. She wrote and directed two shorts films : Le Caveau and Éclipse which received many awards. She was also assistant to André Forcier and Denise Filiatrault, among other creators. She has written two books: Mon voyage de pêche in collaboration with her brother Jean-Marie Lapointe, and Dieu dans tous ces états, as well as numerous articles on cinema for various specialized magazines. In the 2000’s, she was a script doctor and content analyst for Telefilm Canada and fiction and documentary series director for TVA Network.
Since 2008, Maryse Lapointe devotes her time to painting.
