Querença é uma pequena e típica aldeia do Algarve (concelho de Loulé) com cerca de 760 habitantes (Censos 2011). É conhecida pela destilação do medronho, pelo mel com origem na maior variedade de flores existentes na serra, pelo artesanato em cana (cestos) e pela Festa das Chouriças, que se realiza todos os anos no 3º domingo do mês Janeiro. Conservando a arquitectura tradicional, Querença encanta pelas suas casas muito brancas e limpas, acariciadas pela intensa luz do sol dos quentes dias do Verão algarvio. A pequena aldeia de Querença é de facto um inspirador e agreste recanto da serra algarvia de grande beleza natural, longe do bulício turístico que é frequente na costa algarvia durante o época balnear. Eu fui lá e deixei-me levar pela inspiradora alvura da sua arquitectura, essencialmente pelo contraste entre o luminoso branco das casas, os azuis das molduras das pequenas janelas e o céu. "Branca como neve e azul como o céu" :)
IN ENGLISH ----> Querença is a small and typical Algarve village (county of Loulé) with about 760 inhabitants (Census 2011). It’s known for the arbutus’ distillation, for the honey from the largest variety of flowers in the Algarve’s mountains, handicrafts made from cane (baskets) and the “Chouriças Festival” held every year on the 3rd Sunday of January. Retaining the traditional architecture, Querença enchants for its very white and clean houses, caressed by the intense light of the sun of the hot days of the Algarve summer. The small village of Querença is in fact an inspiring and rugged corner of the Algarve mountain range of great natural beauty, away from the tourist hustle and bustle that is frequent on the Algarve coast during the bathing season. I went there and got carried away by the inspiring whiteness of its architecture, essentially by the contrast between the white light of the houses, the blue of the frames of the small windows and the sky. "White as snow and blue as the sky" :)

Inês Dourado is a contemporary award-winning Portuguese painter. In Dourado's paintings, one can find the poetic essence of bustling cityscapes and days brimming with both light and shadow. Utilizing a diverse array of mediums, such as acrylic, oil, watercolor, gel pen, and tempera, she skillfully crafts figurative urban landscapes on both paper and canvas.
Inês Dourado was born in 1958, in Portugal. She has a degree in Art History and a Master in History of Contemporary Art from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. Dourado exhibited her works in Portugal, Spain and Argentina, and her works are in private collections in Germany, Spain, Switzerland, France, Brazil, China, Australia and the USA.
